My tool is Brainpop.com
This site can be used as a study site for subjects like Technology, Health, Arts and Music, Math, English, Social Studies, and Science. This site can also be used when teachers introduce a new topic or lesson into the class. There is a place where you can look up state standards to help teachers align the content. The site is a fun interactive site for both students and teachers.
Some advantages of this site are that you, the teacher, will be able to engage all your students by using a projector or interactive whiteboard in the class. You can also search for your states standards and link the content on the site with your lessons. The site can also be tailored for younger students, older students, and students who are learning English.
A major disadvantage of the website is that you need to be a member of the site to be able to access a majority of the site’s activities.
Brain Pop has many audiences; there is Brain Pop Jr. for students K-3, Brain Pop for students 3rd grade and up, and then Brain Pop ESL for students who are learning English.
To find out more about Brain Pop you can go to their website. If you are still interested you can visit their about us section of the site, found here. You can also go here to find out about subscribing to Brain Pop.
I really like Brain Pop. I had never really used it for much because I am not a member, but after researching the website I realize it really is a great resource for the classroom and school. I feel it can be very useful and I love that they have a place to search for standards. I think this a very useful site.
