What is TeacherTube?
TeacherTube is a lot like the popular website YouTube. The wonderful aspect of TeacherTube is that it is created by educators and for educators. It was created by a 14-year veteran educator who wanted to take education to a new level in a safe and comfortable manner. This website is full of educational instructional videos for teachers and students. TeacherTube is monitored by its creators and the members to maintain this safe learning environment.

How can it be used?
This website is very easy to use and very beneficial. After signing up, which is absolutely free, members are allowed to upload videos that help teach other teachers. This is a great way to continually grow and develop as educators. There are videos on how to teach specific subjects, lessons, or activities along with so much more. Teachers can also create videos for students to watch if they need extra help at home. Members can upload any kind of educational video as long as it "addresses specific learning objectives and/or provide professional development for educators" (From TeacherTube's FAQ). There are tutorial videos and support on the website to help you upload videos. There are also documents available, audio segments, and blogs on this website.

Advantages:
1. Provides instructional videos for teachers
2. Teachers can create videos for students
3. Online support through chatrooms/blogs

Disadvantages:
1. Students would not get immediate feedback if they used a video for extra help
2. High website traffic can sometimes cause videos to load slowly
3. Searching through videos can be difficult sometimes

Who should use it?
TeacherTube is created by an educator for educators. This website is a great addition to the classroom because it provides resources for the lifelong learner. However, this website is also used by the students because they can watch instructional videos created by teachers.

My opinion of TeacherTube...
TeacherTube is a wonderful tool that I will be using from this point on now that I am familiar with the website. I have never heard of TeacherTube before this project, and I just cannot stop searching. It is a great way to see things done and get an idea on where to start. Sometimes the scariest thing about teaching is that you may really just not know how to teach something, and this website does a wonderful job giving this support to educators. We have been taught throughout the teacher education program that the most important part of being a teacher is to never stop learning. TeacherTube gives teachers a way to continue to develop professionally at home with just a click of the mouse. I think this is a great tool that I hope will grow in the future.
