What is Tikatok?

Tikatok is an online website where children can write their own stories and then have those stories professionally published. After writing a book, the child may add pictures to their book and then finally have his or her own book published professionally in either hardback, paperback, or eBook form. After publishing their book, the child has then become a published Author of a book or book series. Tikatok's main purpose is to inspire children to dream BIG and write down those dreams in book form for remembrance purposes in hopes that one day children will pursue their dreams. In order to create a book, the child must log on to the Tikatok website. Signing up for Tikatok is FREE!!

Tikatok also offers teachers membership along with a unique classroom literary program.

How can Tikatok be used?

Tikatok can be incorporated into a classroom setting. A teacher may give an assignment to his or her students asking them to write their own story. Some topics for this story may be: Write a story about what you did over either summer/Thanksgiving/Christmas vacation? Write a story about your favorite animal. Write a story about the best dream that you ever had. Or free write your very own story...etc...etc...etc.

With this story/written book assignment, students have the opportunity to write their very own story, add pictures to their story, and then have their story professionally published. Tikatok can be a great resource when used in a classroom setting. After children have their very own FREE Tikatok account they can continue to write books from their own home or other computers that they have access and permission to use.

What are the disadvantages of Tikatok?

• Having a book published is not FREE!! The final cost of a book depends on the number of pages and the preferred shipping method.

1. Hardbacks start at $18 and paperbacks start at $15 for a book with 7-8 original interior pages plus the front and back cover.
2. Additional pages cost $0.18.
3. Shipping STARTS at $6.48 for a single copy.
4. All eBook downloads are $2.99.

• Shipping costs vary based on the preferred shipping method and the number of books that a person is purchasing. The buyer can select from the following shipping options.

My Opinion

I have created my own Tikatok account and I am amazed at what I have discovered at the website. Like mentioned earlier the steps to writing one's own story are very friendly and easy to follow. As a future educator, I hope to have a classroom and school where I will be able to use Tikatok.
