The tool that I chose to blog about is Evernote. It can be used in many different ways. It can be used on a computer, a web enabled phone as well as the web. Evernote allows you to write a note as well as capture and store an important picture. Every time that you save something to this downloadable program, it organizes, archives, and saves the information. This way, it is easier to search for the information that you are looking for. It allows you to "tag" things so that it makes it even easier when searching.


For example, with your web enabled camera phone, you can take a picture of an important business card, flight details, or even restaurant reservations, save it, and pull it up later when you need the information handy. There are many advantages to this technology. For one, a speech therapist could take a picture of their client (with the parent and client's permission of course) and save it to the database. We can take and store notes about the client's progress and and statistics that we may need. This allows us to have instant access to our information at any time, without having to tote around a heavy notebook. This allows us to connect names to faces by saving pictures and text notes about our clients. The ability to allow us to access this information on our phone is enormous. Also, you can access it on your computer if need be also. Even outside the clinic, we can have an easy way of keeping up with information and keeping it organized. Some of the limitations would be that not everyone has a web enabled phone or personal computer. Also, some would rather have hard copies of information and not digital copies.

The best audience for this tool would be speech therapists and teachers. Both could store pictures of classroom and therapy room materials, as well as students and clients. However, some older high school students, and older clinic patients could use this technology as well. Many could store classroom notes and be able to access them at all times. This could help with their study habits. Also, for some speech therapy clients, they need prompts in order to improve, and the notes on Evernotes could provide great prompts and encouragements when they need it. As a future speech therapist, I would definitely use this technology. I think it is a great organizing tool that easily accessible when needed. . I feel that I would use Evernote especially to connect photos with information about clients. This could definitely be a handy reference for speech therapists who have multiple clients, and who have a knack for using technology.
