What About it:FunBrain.com is an educational browser game website for children and adults. The website was founded in May 1992 and is owned by Family Education Network, a division of Person Education.
What is it: Funbrain.com is website that I learned about in during my practicum. This website is geared for students from grade k-8, where they can log on and practice their academic studies in a fun approach. This website specializes in math and reading. The activities on this site are arcade games, movies, and web book/comics. All of the games are categorized from number games and reading games. It even has a game that teaches students how to play the piano. There are matching games, animal games, and games where students can learn about astrology. Funbrain.com has a link where parents can get advice on their child academic progress. There is also a link for teacher to get teaching resources for their students.
The so great about: The advantages of using funbrain.com are that it helps students learning in many fun ways. It helps the students become frequent user of the computer and internet. It also promotes independent studying.
What's not so great about it:The disadvantage is that not all students may have access to the internet and they may not get the extra practice that the other students can get. Another disadvantage is that the student can see the sight as “just for fun” and take out learning aspect of the site. Personally, I like the sight it works wonders for student who need extra practice on reading and other literacy practice.
