What is the tool?
4kids.org is an educational tool that showcases different aspects of technology. This website uses technology to teach children about different aspects, like science, nutrition, mathematics, and more! It has separate sections for games, videos, and back issues of the online newsletter. I think what is so great about this site, is that it offers informational sections regarding surfing the web in a safe manner. Sections like “Ask Amy and “Cool Spots” allow kids to search topics in a safe, directed manner. It explains to children the dangers of finding inappropriate and false information on the web, and gives tips and suggested websites to search.
How can it be used?
This site can be used in a variety of ways! First, you can allow students to play interactive educational games that are very entertaining and appealing to children. Another option is to use this site to answer any questions your student may have about the World Wide Web. You can also use this site as a resource tool for researching information.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this tool?
An advantage of this site is that it is safe for children to explore, and have fun. It is very entertaining for kids! A disadvantage is that you may not be able to find your topic of research on this site.

Kids of all ages!! It has a variety of games to choose from that can help students up to middle grades.

What is your opinion on the usefulness of this tool?
I feel this website is great for kids! It is fun, entertaining, and they actually learn from this website! I love that they learn safety tips for searching the web, and they give viewers a chance to research a “Kid Quest” of the day. I would definitely use this tool for my personal classroom!
