WhatIs is a website where people can explore new concepts about information technology. The Internet and especially the computer serves us with many functions that we need to know about. This site contains over 4,500 individual encyclopedic definitions and topics. The one thing that I think people will like most about this site is that it is constantly being updated due to new technological advances. This site can be used in all aspects from the business person to the student in a fourth grade class.

This site started as an experiment in hypertext, and quickly turned into a useful repository. It was launched in September 1996 with 350 alphabetized words about computers and the Internet. Today, WhatIs.com is going beyond the encyclopedia look-up source and is transforming into a place where IT professionals can quickly learn and master new concepts, technologies, skills, and products.

I encourage anyone who may be confused on a term or just wants to learn more to visit this site. As future educators this is a great tool to familiarize ourselves with vocabulary. This site gives us access quickly to technological, computer, and Internet topics. We can also refer our students to this site to help them gather information they may need for research. If a student is not sure about a definition or needs more information about it then I think this site would be a great tool.
