What is the tool?
A Web Quest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. It is a new method of learning in which students learn by discovering information in a fun, interactive way.
How can it be used?
This tool can be used in variety of different ways. First, you can have an entire course taught through web quests or only a single assignment. You can post a topic and include an introduction to the assignment. You can then add a tab with the objectives of the assignment. Then you can have a tab where students can download their homework and they can submit it. You can reference many websites for students to get ideas and resources for their assignment. Really you can add any information that you think might be important to you web quest to make it full useful information. Some web quests also may include videoconferencing to learn from people around the world.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this tool?
Advantages- The advantages of this tool are that students can research and learn information from around the world in an easy, safe, and fast way. Web quest makes learning smarter and more fun. It makes students become more creative by making them search for answers around different websites and potentially interacting with people around the world.
Disadvantages- A disadvantage about web quest is that since students need to be online to use web quests then it would not be useful to students without Internet access. Also students will be on the Internet without supervision so it might allow for students to play around instead of working on the Web Quest assignment. Another disadvantage is that when working and learning from different websites it might give the opportunity for bad websites to filter in with good ones. Teachers need to be very careful to include only trustworthy websites into Web Quest assignments.

I feel that this is a useful tool and can help teachers and students to take a different approach to lesson learning. It will help teachers to come with new ideas to present lessons to students. It will also help students to increase their knowledge of the world wide web and will enhance learning. Web Quest will make students learn in a more hand on, creative way. Overall it is a great resource for students and teachers.
