What is it?

ThinkQuest is a free online learning tool for educators and grades K-12. It offers a safe environment for students to discover, learn, and play. It is password protected and teacher monitored. Teachers or administrators can enroll the school on the site and they can actively participate on the site. Students are able to participate in fun learning, creative projects, and have the opportunity to make new friends around the world. ThinkQuest is an award-winning resource that contains over 7,000 projects and offers students the opportunity to have their work published and seen by millions.

How do you use it?

This site can be used inside and outside the classroom by the teacher and by the students. Teachers can monitor student accounts and review their projects and work. The site offers learning projects, competition, and library for numerous subjects. ThinkQuest also allows students to communicate with other students in their school and around the world. Teachers can integrate different learning projects into the curriculum and allows students to work and create pages. Pages can include text, pictures, multimedia, votes, brainstorms, debates, and messages. Students can also write articles, upload media, and join interactive discussions.



Advantages:

• Some students may have difficulty navigating and working online.


• All students might not have access to the Internet.

My opinion on the usefulness of this tool:

I think this is a great tool to use in the classroom. I like how the students are able to work independently on assignments and they can also participate in brainstorms, messaging, and much more. I also think this is an excellent tool for teachers. There are so many resources and projects on every subject, teachers shouldn't have any problem finding information. I think this could be used daily, for homework, or even occasionally for a web assignment lesson. There are so many possibilities with this tool.
