What is the tool?
KidsClick is a little search engine that allows kids to search the web. This web search was founded in 1995 and is owned and run by the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at San Jose State University.

How can it be used?
This tool can be used by young students that might be doing research on a certain subject. KidsClick can also be used by teacher that might be teaching a new topic and is having a hard time getting the students to understand, this website might bring new information to the table and help the kids understand the topic better. There are over 600 subjects that can be searched.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of this tool?
There are a few advantages of this tool. One of the biggest advantages it the fact that this search engine is mostly for kids, therefore, the students uding this website should not end up on a website that would be off limits. I would feel ver comfortable in letting my students go to this website to research a certain subject without me worrying about them ending up on a bad website. Another advantages is the fact that the subjects are listed in alphabetical order and the students can click on the letter that the subject begins with and it will bring it up rather quickly. I also like the way a student or teacher can search for lessons, music, or pictures. The only disadvantage I can come up with is the fact that when you get to the page you are looking for , you cannot go back to KidsClick unless you type it in the web address box or keep pressing the back button. Although, that is the same thing you get of you use Google, or any other search engine.

Who is the audience for this tool?
The intended audience for this tool would be anyone. I think this tool is mostly for younger children, but I will probably get a lot of good information from this website to bring into the classroom. Probably anyone wanting to research a certain subject could easily find good information from this search tool.

What is my opinion on the usefulness of this tool?
In my opinion this tool is very useful. As previously stated, this tool can come in handy especially is a students is looking for information about a certain topic. I have really enjoyed exploring this web search and reviewing new webpages on different information. I will definately use this in my future classroom.
