Assign-a-Day is an online calendar that can be used by both teachers and students. This calendar is meant to be used by teachers to post assignments and to help students manage what is due and when. Teachers can make a collaborative calendar to work with other teachers and classrooms.
There are many advantages of this tool. Students who have trouble staying organized on their own and may not be able to keep up with paper schedules can simply check the internet. Also, teachers can update assignments and due dates at any time with the click of a mouse. The only disadvantage that comes to mind is the fact that the internet can sometimes be unreliable and students could use that excuse for not checking the assignments. However, this could be avoided by requiring students to log on at least once a day to gain some form of points or grade.
My opinion of this tool is that although it could be very helpful for teachers to stay organized it might not be the best student tool for lower grades. Higher grade students and even parents could benefit greatly from this tool but with my focus on lower elementary I might only use Assign-a-Day for myself and perhaps collaborative planning with other teachers.
