Create A Teaching Museum With ArtSite

/ On : 06.35/ Thank you for visiting my small blog here. If you wanted to discuss or have the question around this article, please contact me e-mail at herdiansyah hamzah@yahoo.com.
Yes YOU Can Build Your Own Art Museum!

Let me paint you a mental picture. Imagine having over 180 masterpieces arranged in 12 collections with descriptions and assignment ideas at your finger tips. See your students as curators of their own artwork. Browse through student portfolios and ArtBlogs. Customize the settings to fit your class and grade level. Do you like what you see? With ArtSite you can have all of this and more!

ArtSite is an art education software program teaching resource for teachers and students. ArtSite turns a classroom into an museum filled with art from around the world and displays student portfolios. ArtSite does not require internet access. There are four ArtSite programs available. ArtSite Basic- is for one teacher and his or her students. ArtSite Classroom- is for two or more teachers sharing a classroom. ArtSite Network- is
for a licensed school site to share information via their network server. ArtSite Homeschool- is for homeschool education.

You don't have to be a wiz to install ArtSite. You simply add the ArtSite website folder to your classroom or school's website, create a link and start building your museum. Movie tutorials help guide you through the process of designing your museum site. You can choose your own images, colors, include descriptions and links to educational websites. You can select a grade level from Pre-K to College. Your students can add their artwork to the collection too. The ArtBlog allows students to post comments on various galleries. You have complete control over the blog. You can approve comments before posting and can turn the blog off or on. You can customize helpful art websites for students using ArtSearch with Internet access. ArtSite also custom designs to suit your specific needs.

I believe that ArtSite is a really great investment for an art teacher or school. I think it would be very helpful if incorporated into the curriculum. It opens up another way of looking and relating to the world and all subjects in general. The intended audience is art teachers, classes, and students. ArtSite can be used as a teaching tool. With access to countless images of art work, descriptions and project ideas, ArtSite can aid in teaching class lessons. Students can be instructed to complete the recommended projects as an assignment. ArtSite also fosters a sense of pride in students able to have their artwork viewed and commented on by others. For a one-time, rather steep fee of $299, ArtSite can be used for one to ten schools or an art center, but watching students connect with art worldwide and share their own works is priceless. As the quote in the video below by Eugene Delacroix states "The source of genius is imagination alone, the refinement of the senses that sees what others do not see, or sees them differently." So let's not stifle our children's genius and success in school and ultimately in life. Let's keep Art ALIVE in school!
