The Wii Gaming Console is one of the most popular games in today's world. Its' motion sensitive controllers quickly sense the users movements and portray them in a variety of games from golf, bowling, kick-boxing, to driving and running. Although most of the games for the Wii system are for fun only, many of them could be used for education too.

The Wii could easily be used in the classroom for several reasons. Not only could the regular "fun" games be used to help with math skills (scoring), but there are many educational games now available. The educational games consist of grouping, sorting, upper and lower level math skills, reading, and many more. Not only would the students love playing the popular game but it would make learning much more enjoyable.

The advantage of this system is the pure enjoyment that the kids would have playing its' games. Kids seem to learn more and absorb more material when it's presented in a memorable way. What would be more memorable and enjoyable than playing the wii at school? The variety of games makes for an endless amount of educational opportunities. The wii's disadvantages would be keeping the students focused purely on the learning aspect of the game. Also many of the games will end with losers and winners, which may not be a good and pure message to give to young children. The teacher should set guidelines and rules for good sportsmanship or not provide winning and losing games in the classroom.

The audience for the wii gaming console could be Pre-k through the 12th grade. The games are available on many levels and all age groups will enjoy playing. Its' usefulness is boundless. The wii not only would be great for the classroom educationally, but with set boundaries, could also be used with an award system. If the students are good and complete work throughout the week, there could be wii parties.
