Discovery Education is a website online that teachers use when teaching on a topic. They are educational videos that are math related to science related. They have videos on every core subject taught throughout the elementary, middle, and high school level. This is a tool used by teachers but used for the audience members of Kindergarten through 12th grade.
There are a few pros and cons however. Let us start with the good. The good thing is it is a great tool for teachers to use when trying to explain a topic that is difficult or easy for students to understand. It keeps the student’s attention while the video is being played. And another good factor is that it makes it very easy to search for specific topics. Now let us talk about the bad. For teachers to use this website they have to have a pass code to create as account. As for West Georgia Education Majors there is a pass code which can be difficult to find. This website is for teacher’s use only students cannot watch the educational videos if they desire to which I believe to be a big downfall on this website.
I have used this tool for during my first block and I was in a first grade class. My supervising teacher had told me about a website called digital nation and she took me on a quick tour of how to search for items and how it could be used. When I used this tool I found that the students loved it and were very excited to watch a video but the best part was that they were excited about watching a educational video. I give this educational tool two thumbs up!
