One tool that seems to always be used and accessed by educators is the Internet; and usually to locate different types of material that will enhance students learning. The tool I choose to learn about is Kathy Schrocks's Guide for Educators. It is both a wonderful and useful source to access and to inspire new ideas. This site has things such as lesson plans, craft ideas, and how to projects, as well as many other things. This site is organized by subject material to create easier access and show locations of specific material by content. Another important feature that this site has is helpful links of great books that are full of helpful tips that anyone can order. I think that any educator would agree that Kathy Schrock’s Guide for Educators is a terrific site. This site is geared towards helping teachers however, it is also available for parents to use as well. In the parents corner, it had great homework help; I put in a trigonometry triangle problem and it showed me how to calculate the solution. Not only does the homework help assist with math, it also has the other subjects of social studies, science, and english. This site seems to have a little bit of something useful for everyone.
This site appears to be very helpful and useful for many people; it has many advantages. Some of the advantages include using this site for lots of new and creative ideas. One thing that I thought was really great is that it had categories of subjects to access on the left side. I viewed a couple and one that I examined had ideas for the first days of school ice breaker activities and ideas to get to know the students. In another content area, I viewed the math and there is an area that is Ask Dr. Math; in this part the parents and or teachers can look up ways to help children better understand the material. Another advantage of this site is the lesson plans aspect; it has free lesson plans kindergarten through twelfth grade. I think that these are always helpful when teaching or just trying to accommodate all students different needs with different strategies. I think that this website has no real disadvantages, it seems to be organized in a well manner and is well thought through as to be useful for more than only teachers. The audience is anyone who would like to use it. It is created mainly for teachers use, however anyone teachers, parapros, parents, older students, and others can use this site. I think that the site can be used and accessed by everyone and anyone for instance an older student who might be struggling in math could get on the site and use the math homework help tool to complete the problems of homework they do not understand.
I think that this tool is a wonderful tool for both teachers and others. It is very useful and has lots of ideas that can help us become inspired and create something truly educational and fun for children. It is so great because it is organized and easy to navigate through to find whatever you are looking for. So next time you're stuck go have a look at Kathy's site to get some ideas.
