Illuminations is provided by The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. It offers 103 interactive mathematics activities, 544 math lesson plans for grades k-12, NCTM standards and hundreds of great online resources that deal with mathematics along with a description of each.
How can it be used?
The interactive mathematics games provided by Illuminations can be used in the classroom on a SMART Board. The lesson plans available on Illuminations can be used for teaching mathematics and they each correspond with the NCTM standards. The online resources presented can be used to find even more interactive math games and lesson plans.
What are the advantages/disadvantages?
This tool has many great mathematics activities that would motivate students to learn. It basically has almost everything you need to teach mathematics, other than the state standards. The only disadvantage to this tool is that it is limited only to mathematics instruction, but it was developed by The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics....which only makes since. I did look over some of the provided lesson plans and I noticed that there are multiple disciplines used in some of the lesson plans, which includes other subject areas.
Who is this tool for?
This tool can be used by teachers, k-12, for mathematics instruction. It can also be used by parents who would like to help their children in mathematics. Students can also use this tool to play interactive games.

What is my opinion?
This tool is absolutely amazing! It is full of high quality mathematics activities, lesson plans and online resources! I have utilized this tool many times since I have been in the teaching program and I will continue to use it.
