VoiceThread in the Classroom

For my tool, I chose the VoiceThread. The voicethread is very user-friendly tool and can help in various ways around the classroom. Using voicethread is similar to a podcast, in which you can record your voice and share verbal information as well as uploaded information to a designated area.

This tool can be used in a number of different ways. You can use this tool to create groups and group forums in the classroom. Like a blog, you can also use this tool to work individually and express yourself, or reply to others using the tool. This tool reminds me a lot of the new aged interactive technology which allows you to upload videos and pictures, and as these images are being shown, you can record and edit your voice to show what is happening. When looking at examples of VoiceThreads, I thought this would be helpful to show step by step instructions. It reminds me a lot of the videos we watch for our tutorials in MEDT.

This tool allows for students and teachers to work together and collaborate over ideas. It is a great way for self expression, as well as the students to interact with one another and build opinions and inferences based off one another. Although this tool is very user friendly, the tool has some disadvantages. I feel as though using technology to express yourself is a very new aged trend, but it allows students to hide behind a computer monitor and not interact with face to face contact.

This tool is designed to have a wide variety of audience. The focus of the tool is mainly educators, because the site has specific reviews and instructions for teachers to use this in the classroom. It reaches out to K-12, Higher Ed, as well as Businesses.

This tool is very helpful for teachers to reach a larger variety of students. It helps students to express themselves differently than the given classroom setting. I hope to use this tool in the classroom and allow students to post research findings, projects, and individual works. It creates a new way for student to give the basic information and making learning come alive through technology!
