United Streaming

What is the tool?
The tool is called United Streaming. It is an online multimedia library for K-12. United Streaming consists of education videos, video clips, and images. It also correlates with the Georgia Performance Standards and is very easy to search for different subjects or topics. To go along with the videos there are lessons, quizzes and other teacher materials.


How can it be used?
United Streaming can be used to go along with a lesson to show the students a visual aid. A lot of times United Streaming would be good to use as a introduction piece. You could show a short video clip about a certain topic or subject to get the students interested in what you are about to start teaching.


What are the advantages?
There are several advantages about United Streaming, in fact I do not believe there are any disadavantages. United Streaming is a great tool and really reaches out to those students who just need a little extra help with a topic. United Streaming is also good because it can be used from any computer with a user name and password (which the majority of the time the school you are teaching at has a user name and password). Another great thing about United Streaming is that if there is a couple videos or video clips you will use over and over you can burn them to a CD and will have access to those particular video at all times (even if the internet is down).

What are the disadvantages?
If ther are any disadvantages at all I would say the only thing would be that United Streaming is internet based therefore if the internet is down then United Streaming is down. Other than that, I do not feel there are many disadvantages about United Streaming.

Who is the audience for this tool?
The audience of this tool is directed towards anyone. This tool has videos, video clips, and images for all ages not just elementary! Teachers, parents, and students can all use this tool and it would be a great aid in every classroom!

What is your opinion on the usefulness of this tool?
My opinion of United Streaming is I feel this tool is an amazing tool for every classroom. I know that I will use it all the time while I am teaching and even while I am student teaching. Personally, I am a visual learner therefore watching videos or video clips is much easier for me to understand compared to a teacher standing up and lecturing. Plus there are so many advantages to United Streaming I just feel this is an amazing tool and I will get a great amount of use out of it.
