What is Digital Drawing Pad?
It is a writing/drawing tablet that can be used on a computer. It can also be referred to a graphic tablet.
How can it be used?
Digital drawing pads are really easy to use. It consists of two parts, a flat surface for drawing or writing, and a pen, which is called a stylus, and some tablets come with a cordless mouse that works on the tablet surface. All you have to have is a USB port on your computer for it to be connected. If you prefer to go wireless, Bluetooth is another option for connecting a drawing tablet to your computer. The drawing pad can also be used in any software application on your computer.
What are the advantages?
There are so many advantages for this technology device. One great advantage is that every point on the tablet maps to a point on your screen, so that makes it easier to navigate the desktop. The tablets are also a more comfortable way to work on the computer. This device is another alternative to working with a mouse. There are many software applications that have special features and tools that are designed to be used with a pen/stylus that is featured on the tablets. Another great thing about this device is that it gives far more control than a mouse ever would. This graphic tablet can also help out people with Carpal tunnel syndrome with the use of a stylus instead of a mouse.
What are the disadvantages?
I could not find many disadvantages about this product. The few I found were when people prefer a wireless connection; Wacom is the only manufacturer that produces a Bluetooth-capable tablet. It is called the Graphire Bluetooth. Another is to make sure you find out if the stylus/pen requires a battery, because it makes the pen heavy and probably not as comfortable to use. A few others were just talking about different manufacturers and their advantages/disadvantages. There were a few clichés with the drawing pads when using with certain Logitech products.
Who is the audience for this tool?
I think everyone could use this tool. With the digital drawing tablet, people can handwrite notes, mark up digital documents, make quick sketches, and sign their name. They could also handwrite email, enter text by hand anywhere typed text is accepted, navigate their desktop and more. This item is great for anyone who is more comfortable with a pen in their hand than a mouse. This product is also great for artists. Artists can simply draw directly on the tablet instead of using a scanner to get pictures onto the computer.

After studying this piece of technology, I am probably going to purchase one. I think I could use this with my photography to edit photographs. This tool is not that expense. I think you can buy one of the basic tablets for under $100.00. I could use this tool in my classroom in so many ways. A few would be to show students how to use certain drawing and photoshop techniques. This tool would be great for high school art students. Especially the students that want to futher their education in art.
