A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. The WebQuest was first developed by Bernie Dodge and Tom developed at San Diego State University It is an excellent tool for students and teachers to use in the classroom and at home. Teachers can use it to create assignments for individuals students or as group projects. Creating a WebQuest can be very simple. If you know how to create a document with hyperlinks, you should be able to create a WebQuest using Word, PowerPoint, and even Excel. There are a few key attributes that a WebQuest must contain.
- Requires higher level thinking, not simply summarizing.
- Makes good use of the web.
- Isn't a research report or a step-by-step science or math procedure.
- Isn't just a series of web-based experiences.
