Edutopia: "A place... where innovation is the rule, not the exception."


Edutopia is the name for the George Lucas Educational Foundation. George Lucas, known for his films such as the Star Wars saga, is the founder and chairman of this organization that combines the filmmaker's passion for technological innovation with his commitment to education. Edutopia is comprised of a website, magazine, and video learning series for educators. Edutopia is based on 6 core concepts:

• social and emotional learning

The Website

Edutopia.org offers tips and tools to teachers for integrating technology into the classroom. Instructional modules developed by other educators are also present. You can also view the video series here, sign up for the free weekly newsletter and a free trial issue of the magazine.


The Magazine

The magazine contains valuable articles about cutting-edge practices in the classroom, in addition to ways to tackle common problems that teachers are facing. The magazine is available online at no charge. For those who prefer a hard copy, subscription to this magazine is included with a one-year membership ($35).


The Videos

This learning series documents how other teachers have successfully implemented the practices that Edutopia encourages. Educators actually get to see inside the classrooms of other teachers who have taken the leap outside of the box.
