Funbrain

Funbrain is an interactive site for kids, parents, and teachers. There is a specific link for parents, teachers, and kids to explore! Funbrain offers a variety of games children can play that help improve math and reading skills. Funbrain is for grades K-8. Not only does it have games, but there is also a spot for different age groups to blog! It also allows teachers to create quizzes and find standards. It also shows some outside links teachers can use to have an online gradebook! In the parents section, it offers homework relief center.
Some of the games require logical thinking and computation. One game I played mathbasketball required me to answer equations before I could dribble or shoot the basketball. If your answer is incorrect you do not get to do anything. Another game I played for grammar was The Grammar Gorillas. In this game, you have directions before reading every sentence. One sentence may ask that you find the verb in the sentence. There are a few words in red for you to click on for the answer. Once you choose your answer, the top right corner of the page tells if it was correct or incorrect, and the top left of the page explains why it is incorrect.
This site is a great way to get students involved with learning and exploring. Students will love to get on funbrain in the classroom when all work has been completed or there is extra time in the day. It is also great to use in the home! Funbrain is real easy to use. All you do is find a category you wish to work on and then choose a game or activity.
Some game categories have several different games within. The Math Basketball game I played was a series of games and all I did was click on the Math Arcade link. When starting one of these games, it asks for a password if you are a previous user. The Math Basketball game I played was a series of games and all I did was click on the Math Arcade link. Each game gives you a password after you have successfully completed it. If you remember the password, the next time you get on and put in that password, it will take you where you left off. If you do not remember the password, then you will have to start off at the beginning. Some games are just one game, such as The Grammar Gorilla that I played.
